Radford men's golf coach Mike Grant unveiled his squad's 2012-13 schedule. The Highlanders are looking to build upon a solid 2011-12 campaign that saw the team post three Top-5 finishes and several individual Top-10's.
“Our schedule will once again be very challenging and allow us to play against some of the best teams in the country,” commented Grant.
For the fifth straight year, Radford opens the season in the Palmetto State at the Raines Development Intercollegiate, hosted by Francis Marion University, Sept. 10-11. Two weeks later, the Highlanders head to Colonial Heritage Golf Club for William and Mary's Joe Agee Invitational.
The team travels to the North Carolina coast on Oct. 21-23 for the Outer Banks/Old Dominion Invitational held at Kilmarlic Golf Club, one of the state's top-rated layouts. A week later, Radford continues down the coast for its next tournament, the Wendy's Kiawah Classic hosted Charleston Southern, to wrap up fall competition.
The spring slate gets underway at Francis Marion's Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. on Feb. 18-19. Radford returns to the Davidson Intercollegiate at River Run Country Club on March 4-5.
Looking to build upon last season's third-place showing, the Highlanders will once again compete in the Bash at the Beach, hosted by Appalachian State, March 10-12 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Next, the squad will tee it up March 24-26, at William and Mary's C&F Bank Intercollegiate played at the Kingsmill Resort's luxurious River Course, site of the LPGA's Kingsmill Championship.
Regular season play concludes April 15-16 at Wofford's Coca-Cola Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. The tournament serves as the final tune-up for the 2013 Big South Men's Golf Championship, played at The Patriot Club in Greenwood, S.C., April 22-24.
