Friday Night Stars will be a regular feature, which will appear every week here at ValleySportsNow. We will take a look at the heroes and other interesting tidbits from the previous Friday night high school football games from around the area.

Rockbridge’s Porter Abell rushed for 155 yards on 12 carries and scored four rushing TDs. Abell, who now has 1,596 rushing yards, broke the school record Friday night. He also threw for 132 yards and a TD on a 6-for-8 night.
Giles’ Ian Mann ran for 224 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns in the Spartans 31-16 win over Blacksburg.
Freshman Brent Coleman nailed an 18-yard field goal on the last play of the game to lift William Byrd to a 27-24 win over Cave Spring.
Chris Thompson of Lord Botetourt ran for 250 yards on 28 carries and two TDs, as the Cavs defeated James River 26-6.
Christiansburg’s Joey Augustin rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
De’Quan Green-Gause of Christiansburg ran for 134 yards on 12 carries and two TDs.
Pulaski County’s Quincey Rollins rushed for 117 yards on 19 carries and scored a trio of touchdowns.
Radford’s Adam Turk and Eric Benitez recorded 13 tackles apiece against Pulaski, while Alex Wright had a hand in 10 tackles.
Blacksburg’s Marcus Ilardo had a team-high 15 tackles against Giles.
Fort Chiswell’s Daniel Hamm rushed for 135 yards on 12 carries and scored three touchdowns, as the Pioneers defated Rural Retreat 34-0.
Fort Chiswell quarterback Brett Mabry connected on 9-of-15 passes for 109 yards.
James River’s Kyle King completed 13-of-23 passes for 113 yards.
Patrick Henry’s Xavier Whorley ran for 136 yards on 21 attempts.
Narrows’ Rodney Perdue completed 7-of-17 passes for 116 yards.
Galax’s Donte Peoples rushed for 214 yards on 23 tries and scored three touchdowns in its 38-25 win over Glenvar.
Galax’s Steven Peoples ran for 108 yards on 12 carries.
Glenvar’s Levi Mullins threw for 286 yards and three TDs on a 21-for-43 night.
North Cross’ Matt Revercomb completed 15-of-30 passes for 174 yards and a TD.
George Wythe’s Trey Skeen rushed for 103 yards on five carries.
