Once upon a time there was a travel baseball team in Radford headed up by Joe Hodge called the Sharks.

Sean Phillips is one of the directors of the NRV Sharks, a travel baseball division of teams here in the New River Valley featuring all age groups from 8MP- 17U.

Phillips is the former coach of the Radford Rookies 9U travel team, who finished their season ranked #1 in the State for 9U AA.  Rick Slavings is a director, and he is the coach of the Radford Bobcats 13 U travel team, who finished their season ranked #2 in the state for 13 U AA.  Also, the other director is Troy Dalton.

Both teams will hold try-out for all age divisions on August 1st at Veterans Field in Radford. Try-outs will be held at the following times: 11 & 8 year olds will try-out at 2 p.m.; 12 & 9 year olds will try-out at 3 p.m.; 13  & 10 year olds will try-out at 4 p.m.; and 14, 15, & 17 year olds will be held at a later date.
