The Meadows Swim Club opened the 2012 Southwest Virginia Swim League season by out swimming the Christiansburg Aquatic Center and the Blacksburg Aquatic Center in a tri-meet Thursday evening at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The Meadows finished with 1604 combined points, followed by CAC (1029) and BAC (928).

Double winners for the Meadows included AJ Reece (boys 7-8, 25 yard freestyle, 19.56 seconds and boys 7-8, 25-yard back, 24.94), Breanna Fitzwater (girls 9-10, 50-yard freestyle, 34.32 and girls 9-10, 50-yard back, 39.91), Kaylee Greiner (girls 11-12, 50-yard freestyle, 28.38 and girls 11-12 50-yard back, 33.05), Jack Flora (boys 11-12, 50-yard freestyle, 29:34 and boys 11-12, 50-yard back, 34.74), Austin Owen (boys 13-14, 50-yard freestyle 28.46 and boys 13-14, 50-yard back, 32.86), Heather Rowland (girls 30-39, 50-yard freestyle, 28.21 and girls 30-39, 50-yard back,32.68).

Other top finishers for the Meadows included Amanda Williams (girls 15-19, 50-yard freestyle, 28.74), Adam Johnston (boys 15-19, 50-yard freestyle, 25.21), David Abraham (boys 50-over, 50-yard freestyle, 36 seconds), Alexandra Reece (girls 6-under, 25-yard back, 28.01), the mixed 9-12, 200-yard free relay team (Greiner, Neil Reisinger, Nicholas Harvey, Logan Graham) was first with a time of 2:12.33, while the mixed 13-over, 200-yard free relay team (Williams, Ben LaCasse, Tori Ramsey, Johnston) was first with a time of 1:52.90.

Leading CAC with double wins were Emma Anderson (girls, 7-8 25-yard free, 18:04 and girls, 7-8 back, 23.17), Simeon L. Battaglia (boys 6-under, 25-yard free, 40:30 and boys 6-under back, 43.66), Elizabeth G. Battaglia (girls 13-14, 50-yard free, 29.57 and girls 13-14, 50-yard back, 35 seconds), Allison Zuchowski (girls 40-49, 38.63 and girls 40-49, 50 yard back, 45.77), Susan Bricken (girls 50-over, 50-yard free, 36.71 and girls 50-over, 50-yard back, 45.43), and Kevin Paar (boys 40-49, 50-yard free, 34.10 and boys 40-49, 50-yard back, 45.22).

Also taking the top spot for CAC were Eden Semones (girls 6-under, 25-yard free, 31.61), Elizabeth G. Battaglia (girls 13-14, 50-yard free, 29.57) and Taylor Zuchowski (girls 15-19, 50-yard back, 34.84).

Leading BAC with two wins apiece were Leo Yang (boys 9-10, 50-yard free, 31.74 and boys 9-10, 50-yard back, 36.75), Kara Moser (girls 20-29, 50-yard free, 30.19 and girls 20-29, 50-yard back, 35.78), Trevor Jamerson (boys 20-29, 50 yard free, 23.73 and boys 20-29, 50-yard back, 28.68) and Brett Gombar (boys 30-29, 50-yard free, 24.46 and boys 30-39, 50-yard back, 29.61).

The BAC mixed 8-under 100-yard free relay team of Isaac Poff, Amy Menegay, Brady Semtner and Amanda Potter finished first with a time of 1:49.52.
