Elizabethon was able to overcome a 5-1 deficit after five innings of play, ultimately topping Pulaski 7-5 Friday night at Historic Calfee Park.
The Twins (42-19) displayed their power in the come-from-behind win as Byron Buxton, Max Kepler, and Romy Jimenez contributed by blasting homers in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.
Despite getting the no decision for his last start of the season, M’s right-hander Charles Kaalekahi was rather impressive, throwing six innings giving up only three hits, two walks, and fanning eight Elizabethon batters. Kaalekahi threw a season-high 100 pitches, 71 of which were strikes. He finishes the season with a 4-4 record, throwing 65 2/3 innings while giving up 23 ER and collecting 61 K’s.
Jordy Lara (3-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI) and Tyler Marlette (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) were the only Mariners able to piece together a multi-hit night against the Elizabethton pitchers
The Mariners (25-38) will play their final home game of the season tonight, 7 p.m., where they will be finishing up a three game series against the Twins.
