Virginia Amateur Sports in partnership with Set Up Events Inc. is proud to announce that the 16^th Anniversary of the Appalachian Power Smith Mountain Lake Triathlon will be held this Saturday, May 4 at Smith Mountain Lake State Park.

The Next Revolution n Volleyball 16 National Team has competed in eight tournaments this season, winning one, placing second twice, and placing 5th in the 90-team Shamrock Festival.

Local Wendy’s franchises are extending special congratulations to 63 winners representing 39 high schools who were named school winners for the prestigious 2012 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.  To be eligible for this award, students must display academic aptitude, athletic talent and community leadership.

Special Olympics Virginia will be hosting a Regional Basketball Tournament Sunday, February 17 in Cassell Coliseum at Virginia Tech.

Special Olympics Virginia is thrilled to announce that four athletes will travel to South Korea for the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games, Jan. 29 – Feb. 5. They will be among the 151 athletes of Special Olympics Team USA and nearly 2,400 athletes from 112 countries to compete in the Games, which are expected to draw more than 15,000 family, friends, volunteers and spectators.

George Wythe, Eastern Montgomery, Galax, Fort Chiswell, Giles and Grayson Couty all placed players on the first team of the recently released Virginia High School Coaches Association (VHSCA) Group AA All-State football team.

Salem, Cave Spring, Hidden Valley and Northside all landed players on the first team of the recently released Virginia High School Coaches Association (VHSCA) Group AA All-State football team.
