Playing basketball all day for a good cause is exactly what seven men's teams did last Saturday, as the Radford Wal-Mart held its second annual basketball tournament at the Radford Recreation Center to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network.
"We had a good turnout of teams and everyone had a lot of fun for this worthy cause," said Tommie Harman, who coordinated the event. "At the end of the day when we totaled things up, we raised $1800 for the CMN."
The teams competing included the Bench Warmers, Dublin Door Mats, NRV Ballers, Circle T, Virginia Ballers, Trey Clique and BIS.
The Western Virginia Basketball Officials Association provided the referees for the tournament at no cost.
"This was a way for us to get some preseason work and to give back to the community at the same time," said referee David Crawford of Christiansburg.
