Pulaski and Carroll County's request to keep Franklin County from joining the River Ridge District in the 2013-14 season was once again denied by the VHSL Redistricting and Reclassification (R&R) Committee during an appeals meeting held Tuesday in Charlottesville.
In the district appeals, · Carroll County’s and Pulaski County’s request that Franklin County be moved from the River Ridge District to another district was DENIED by a vote of 4-7 (motion failed). Franklin County remains in River Ridge District.
· A motion to move Franklin County to the Seminole District also failed by a vote 2 -9.
· Carroll County’s request to move from the River Ridge District to the Mountain Empire District was DENIED for lack of a second. Carroll County remains in River Ridge District
The following conference appeals were approved Tuesday by the Ad Hoc Conference Committee:
· Staunton River’s request to move from Conference 30 to Conference 31 and to move Tunstall from Conference 31 to Conference 30 was approved by a vote of 22-0.
· Covington’s request to move from Conference 44 to Conference 45 was approved by a vote of 19-1-2.
The following conference appeals were denied Tuesday by the Ad Hoc Conference Committee:
· Carroll County’s request to move E.C. Glass and Jefferson Forest from Conference 24 to Conference 23 failed by a vote of 3-16-3.
· Pulaski County’s request to move E.C. Glass and Jefferson Forest from Conference 24 to Conference 23 failed by a vote of 3-16-3.
According to Mike McCall, Information and Communications Specialist for the VHSL, a final vote will be held on Sept. 19 in Charlottesville by the VHSL executive committee.
