A poor start was the differnce in this one, as Broadway upset Lord Botetourt 39-35 in the semifinals of the Region III, Div. 4 girls' basketball tournament Wednesday night at Harrisonburg High School.

Broadway (18-8) meets Staunton River at 7 p.m. Friday night in the championship game at Harrisonburg.

The Gobblers staked out to a 12-2 lead after the opening quarter and increased their lead to 26-18 at the break. Broadway would maintain its advantage in the second half, as they earned the four-point win.

Jade Lewis led Botetourt with 13 points and Meaghan Catron added 11 points.
