In a battle of county rivals, senior quarterback Porter Abell had 287 yards of offense to help lead Roackbridge County to an emotional 42-0 win over visiting Parry McCluer in non-district football action Friday night.
Prior to the game, Rockbridg held a ceremomy to honor the memory of former football star Chase Prasnicki, who was killed in action while in Afghanistan in June 2012. Prasnicki, a former quarterback, graduated in 2006.
The Wildcats (1-0) took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on runs 26 yards and 8-yards by Abell. He added runs of 20, 8 and 2, along with a 54-yard pass to give the Cats a 42-0 halftime advantage.
Abell finished with 155 yards rushing on 12 carries and five TDs, while passing 132 yards on a 6-of-8 for one TD.
The Fighting Blues (0-1) was held to 88 yards of total offense, all rushing.
