Staunton River scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to turn a three-point deficit into a 27-17 non-district football win over Tunstall Friday night in Moneta.
Trailing 17-14 going into the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles (4-1) would use a two-yard run by Deshawn Martin to take a 21-14 lead early in the quarter. Staunton River added an insurance touchdown when Sam Jennings galloped 75-yards on an interception to give the Golden Eagles the 27-17 victory.
Staunton River took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 67-yard run by Jarret Moon. The Trojans (2-3) got a 24-yard field goal by Hendrix to cut its deficit to 7-3 after a quarter.
Tunstall took a 10-7 lead in the second quarter on a 35-yard pass from Huffman to Shoemaker.
Staunton River regained the lead 14-10 in the third quarter on an 18-yard scoring strike from Martin to Cameron Paksoy. Tunstall came right back and took a 17-14 advantage on a one-yard run by Huffman.
Jarret Moon led Staunton River with 257 yards on 40 carries and a touchdown.
