Staunton River Pulls Away From Jefferson Forest

staunton-river-logoStaunton River turned it up a notch in the second half, as the Golden Eagles claimed a 57-45 non-district girls' basketball win over Jefferson Forest Monday night in Moneta.


With the game tied at 24-all at the break, the Golden Eagles (4-4) started to pull away in the third quarter, as they outscored the Cavaliers (3-3) 21-12 to take a 45-36 lead into the final quarter. Staunton River maintained its advantage in the fourth quarter, pull away for the 57-45 victory.

Erin McKeague paced Jefferson Forest with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

Jodi Salyer led Staunton River with a game-high 17 points. Brie Holdren tossed in 15 points  Kassie Hoag finished with 13 points.
