Terriers Run Past Titans

William-Byrd-Terriers-LogoWilliam Byrd scored in every quarter, as they picked up their first win of the season with a 25-0 non-district win over Hidden Valley Friday night in Vinton.

The Terriers (1-1) took a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter on a 20-yard pass from Jake Barton to Brian Fuquay. Another pass from the same combination would give William Byrd a 13-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Joe Barton would haul in a 62-yard pass from Jake Barton to make it 19-0. In the fourth quarter, Jake Barton called his own number, as he scored from a yard out to make the final 25-0, Terriers.

Hidden Valley, who only had five first downs and 58 yards rushing, was led by Griffin Brand with 30 yards and Alan Conner with 29 yards. Chad Frazier was 3-for-6 for 34 yards and one interception.

William Byrd, who racked up 189 rushing yards was led by freshman Samuel Horstmann with 96 yards on 26 carries. Jake Barton was 5-of-7 for 132 yards, throwing for a pair of touchdowns and running for another.
