In a Wythe County showdown, George Wythe claimed a 28-7 non-district football win over Fort Chiswell Friday night in Wytheville.

The Maroons (2-0) held a 28-0 lead before the Pioneers (1-1) finally scored late in the fourth quarter on a 29-yard pass from Brett Mabry to Jared Hovencamp.

Brett Mabry led Fort Chiswell with 172 yards on a 17-for-28 night and a touchdown.

Dominique Crockett led George Wythe with 77 yards rushing on nine carries and two touchdowns.
