Colton Ayers nailed a third inning grand slam, to help lead Fort Chiswell to an 11-1 Mountain Empire District baseball win over Bland County Tuesday afternoon in Max Meadows. The game was called after five innings due to the slaughter rule.
Ayers also drove in five runs in the game for the Pioneers (7-2, 1-0 MED). Hody Viars added two hits and two RBIs, while Josh Underwood had two hits and scored a pair of runs.
Tye Kirby earned the win on the mound. He gave up two hits, walked three and struck out 11 batters.
Cody Greene scored the loan run for the Bears.
