Hody Viars had the hot bat for Fort Chiswell, as they pounded Bland County, 14-4, in the semifinals of the Mountain Empire District baseball tournament Tuesday night in Bastian.
Viars finished the game for the Pioneers (15-6) with a 4-for-4 showing, including five RBIs and a home run. Cory Mabry added two hits, including a homer and an RBI, while Josh Underwood added two hits and a pair of RBIs.
Cody Blessing led the Bears with two hits and two RBIs.
Fort Chiswell now meets the winner of the Grayson County in the district championship game at 5 p.m. Friday in Bastian.
