In a battle to the end, Galax claimed a 1-0 decision over George Wythe, in the semifinals of the Region C boys soccer tournament Thursday afternoon at Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista.

The Maroon Tide (14-5-1) will play Radford for the Region C title at 6 p.m. this evening at Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista. Both Galax and Radford will play in the state Group A quarterfinals next Tuesday.

Galax's Jose Martin scored in the 47th minute off an assist from Juan Carlos for the game's lone score.

Woody Wilder recorded six saves for George Wythe, who ended its season with a 14-3-1 mark.

Galax goalie Bryan Cantrell tallied six saves.
