Alex Taylor had a career double-double night, as he helped lead Narrows to a 77-51 victory over Rural Retreat in the opening round of the Region C, Division 1 boys basketball tournament Wednesday night in Narrows.

Narrows (14-9) now meets Eastern Montgomery in the semifinals Friday night at George Wythe High School. Game time is slated for 6 p.m. The Green Wave and Mustangs split a pair of regular-season games.

Narrows would take control early, as they staked out to a 15-5 lead after the first quarter and increased its advantage to 33-17 at the half. The Green Wave would continue to pull away in the second half, as they outscored the Indians, 44-34, to run away with the 77-51 win.

Matthew Thompson led Rural Retreat (9-12) with 19 points.

Alex Taylor led Narrows with 23 points and 15 rebounds, both career-highs. Ben Thompson also contributed 25 points for the Green Wave.
