Third-seeded Patrick County defeated second-seeded Tunstall, 3-2, in the semifinals of the Piedmont District girls soccer tournament being played at Bassett High School.
Madison Gunter and Katie Kipreos both scored in the first half to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Tunstall came back in the second half and scored two quick goals to even the score.
Katie Kipreos took a corner kick for the Cougars and the ball crossed the top of the goal, Gunter was there to put the ball into the net making the score 3-2 with about ten minutes left in the game. The
Cougars were able to hold off several runs by Tunstall to win the game and advance to the championship match of the tournament, to be played at 6 p.m. Thursday night, as Patrick County meets Bassett at Bassett High School.
