Craig County raced out to an early lead, as they opened thier season with a 42-6 non-district victory over Auburn Friday night in New Castle.
The Rockets (1-0) took a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter on a pair of 45 and 63 yard gallops by Justin Martin.
The Eagles (0-1) would score their lone touchdown of the game early in the second quarter on a 1-yard plunge by Jacob Mullins.
Craig County would answer with an 8-yard run by Matt Ouellette and a 52-yard pass interception by Barry Hoover to make it 28-6 at the half.
The Rockets added a touchdown in the third quarter on a 31 yard scamper by M. Ouellette and a 75 yard run by Josh Ouleette to make the final 42-6.
Jefferson Lee was good on all six of his PATs.
Jacob Mullins led Auburn with 119 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown. Mullins, a junior, also recorded a sack and three tackles for loss on defense.
Craig County quarterback Josh Ouellette ran for 73 yards and passed for 78 yards. Justin Martin led the ground game with five carries for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
