Jessica Simmons tossed a one-hitter, as she helped James River take a 5-0 non-district softball win over Staunton River Thursday evening in Buchanan.

Simmons also struck out 13 batters for the Knights (13-3).

Jenna Sprinkle went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Haley Shotwell drove in two on a pair of hits and Renea Smith went 1-for-1 with an RBI for James River.

Michaela Haett had the lone Staunton River hit.
