There's an old saying, "When it rains, it pours'', that was the case Tuesday night in Buchanan, after an hour delay due to heavy downpours, James River then pelted Grayson County with hit after hit, as the Knights cruised to an easy 14-5 win in the quarterfinals of the Region C baseball tournament.
James River (15-6) now meets Glenvar (17-5) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. tonight at Salem's Kiwanis Field.
The Knights struck for seven runs in the first inning and eventually led 13-0, before the Blue Devils plated five runs in the sixth.
Andrew Tucker pitched four innings of two-hit ball for the win.
Five different Knights had two hits apiece, they included Brent Cummings, Andrew Tucker, Ryan Hepler, J.B. O'Conner, and Grant Sowder. Hepler's hits included a solo homer.
Zack Hill had two hits for Grayson.
