Christiansburg fell behind two sets early and could never recover, as visiting Blacksburg claimed a 25-8, 25-7, 17-25, 26-24 victory in the opening round of the River Ridge District volleyball tournament Monday night.

Blacksburg will meet Hidden Valley in the semifinals tonight at 5 p.m. at Salem High School.

Lindsey Cusimano led the Bruins (13-15) with 10 kills, 14 digs and nine aces. Catherine Boyle chipped in with 10 kills, five digs and an ace, Abigail Phillips had six kills, four digs and six aces, while Callie Friedberg added a kill, 10 digs and two aces.

Katherine Harrison led the Blue Demons (5-16) with seven aces. Ashleigh Lovelace posted five kills and Shelby Waters notched three blocks.
