Rebecca Cornelius and Gracie Sims both recorded the hat trick, as the Bruins opened their season with an 8-0 blanking of the Patriots Saturday afternoon in Roanoke.

Cornelius and Sims both finished with three goals and an assist to lead Blacksburg (1-0).

Kelsey Fuller and Anika Marand split time in goal preserving the shutout for the Bruins.
