Fresh off winning the Draper Valley Prep Classic on Monday, Blacksburg made it two invitationals in a row,  as they claimed the Bob McClellend Metro Golf Tournament by 10 strokes over second-place finisher Salem Thursday at the Par- 71 Botetourt Country Club in Troutville.

The normally two-day tournament, which was cut back to just one day this year, was dominated by the River Ridge District, as they claimed the top four spots. The Bruins won the team title with a 290, followed by Salem (300), Hidden Valley (311), Cave Spring (316) and Franklin County (320) to round out the top five teams. A total of 13 teams and 65 golfers competed in the event.

Sophomore Ryan Mondy of Blacksburg won medalist honors with a round of two-under-par 69. Salem's Parker Davis, a senior, finished second with a 71.

"We brought our numbers 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 golfers today," said first-year Franklin County coach Stuart Jamison, whose team finished fifth. "This was a very strong field of teams and we were consistent."
