Ten teams from Virginia and North Carolina will invade Christiansburg starting Wednesday afternoon, as the Lady Blue Demons will host the inaugural Border Wars girls' basketball tournament at Christiansburg High School.

Teams participating include, Auburn, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Glenvar, Floyd County, Hidden Valley, Carroll County, Tuscola, Cherokee High School (Cherokee, NC) and RS Central (NC).

"The North Carolina teams are tough," said Christiansburg girls coach Trevor Lampman. "They are both 20-plus game winners and went deep into the state playoffs."

The tournament, which will start at 2 p.m. Wednesday with round-robin play, will be broken into two pools, the Commonwealth and the Tarheel, which will provide the seeding for the double-elimination rounds leading up the championship game at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Tournament passes are $25 or day passes are $7 on Wednesday, $10 on Thursday and Friday and $7 on Saturday. Children under the age of 10 will be admitted for $5 per day.

Concessions will be available and all proceeds from the tournament will go to the Lady Blue Demons Basketball Boosters.
