Christiansburg put this one away in the second quarter, as the Blue Demos remained unbeaten with a lopsided 55-28 non-district football win over visiting Carroll County Friday night.
The Demons (3-0) took a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter on a 25-yard run by De'Quan Green-Gause and Jake Hamley's PAT. The Cavaliers (0-3) answered with a 17-yard pass from Conner Lundy to Duncan Reece to pull to within one, 7-6.
In the second quarter, a 10-yard scamper by Green-Gause, a 3-yard run by Mack Muldoon and a 50-yard gallop by Joey Augustin increased the Christiansburg advantage to 27-6. Carroll County added a 1-yard run by Jake Dillon and the two-point conversion to cut its deficit to 27-14. The Blue Demons closed out the quarter with a 10-yard run to make it 34-14 at the half.
A 9-yard scamper by Augustin increased Christiansburg's lead to 41-14 early in the third quarter. Carroll County answered with a 1-yard plunge by Lundy to make it 34-21.
In the fourth quarter, an 82-yard gallop by Green-Gause and a 52-yard trot by Kory Hendricks allowed the Blue Demons to extend their lead to 55-21. The Cavaliers added a 2-yard touchdown run by Cody Ally to make the final 55-28.
Conner Lundy completed 21 of 39 passes for 289 yards and a touchdown to pace Carroll County.
De'Quan Green-Gause led Christiansburg with 153 yards on nine carries and four touchdowns, while Joey Augustin added 142 yards on 11 attempts and two touchdowns.
