Christiansburg came from two touchdowns down to claim a hard-fought 28-27 win over host Bassett in non-district football action Friday night.
The Bengals (1-3) would take a 13-0 lead in the opening quarter on a 1-yard and 7-yard run by Mack Lawson. The Blue Demons (4-0) closed out the quarter with a 2-yard run by Joey Augustin and Jake Hamley's PAT to make it 13-7.
A 12 -yard run by Gabe Quesenberry would give Christiansburg a 14-13 halftime advantage.
In the third quarter, a Mack Muldoon pass to Augustin and Hamley's PAT extended the Blue Demon lead to 21-13.
A 63-yard run by Mack Lawson early in the fourth quarter allowed Bassett to tie the game at 21-21. Christiansburg regained the lead on a 45-yard gallop by Kory Hendricks midway through the quarter to make it 28-21. Bassett responded with a 9-yard scamper by Chris Martin to pull to within one, 28-27, with 1:35 remaining. The Bengals opted for the two-point conversion and the win. However, Christiansburg's Jordan Fenton made the stop on the play and the Blue Demons managed to leave town with the slim 28-27 victory.
De'Quan Green-Gause led Christiansburg with 111 rushing yards on 12 carries and Joey Augustin rushed for 102 yards on 20 attempts. Mack Muldoon completed 4-of-10 passes for 55 yards.
Mack Lawson paced Bassett with 246 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 24 attempts. He also completed 9-of-17 passes for 170 yards.
