Titans Handle Blue Demons

The Titans jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as they defeated the Blue Demons, 70-42, in River Ridge District girls basketball action Thursday night in Christiansburg.

Hidden Valley (15-5, 8-1 RRD) would take a 16-13 lead after the opening quarter and would increase its lead to a comfortable 45-22 halftime advantage. The Titans would outscore Christiansburg (2-18, 0-9 RRD) 20-6 in the third quarter to take a commanding 65-28 lead into the fourth quarter. Hidden Valley would continue to pull away in the final eight minutes, as they claimed the 70-42 victory on the road.

Kayla Osborne led Hidden Valley with a game-high 17 points. Tyler Evans tossed in 12 points, Lindsay Divers had 11 points and Jordan McDonald finished with 10 points.

Paige Wright led Christiansburg with 10 points.

Christiansburg will host Blacksburg (10-9, 5-4 RRD) tonight at Christiansburg Middle School. The JV game starts at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity contest.

Hidden Valley will host Cave Spring (2-17, 2-7 RRD) tonight. Should the Titans win, they will be tied for first place with Salem (19-2, 9-1). A playoff game will be held on Saturday at Cave Spring between Salem and Hidden Valley to determine the regular-season champion.
