The Hidden Valley girls knocked off Blacksburg for the first time this season, as they won the Region IV girls soccer crown, 3-2 on penalty kicks, Friday evening at Bogle Field in Roanoke.
The Titans (16-3-2) will host a Group AA state quarterfinal game on Tuesday, while the Bruins (15-3-2) heads to the Region III champion home turf. The Region III championship game between Jefferson Forest and R.E. Lee is being played at 2 p.m. today at Waynesboro High School.
Blacksburg would take a 1-0 lead in the game's first two minutes, when Kara Schmitt sent the ball across the line.
Hidden Valley would tie the match in the 14th minute on a goal by Murray Meyer and would then take a 2-1 lead in the 12th minute when Kendall Lynch sent the ball into the back of the net.
The Bruins would tie the game in the final 10 minutes of regulation on a goal by Lauren Cusimano.
After four five-minute overtimes, the Titans would win the game on penalty kicks.
