Pulaski County banged out 16 hits, as they claimed an exciting 9-8 JV baseball win over host Christiansburg Tuesday evening.
The JV Cougars started slow at the plate falling behind 2-1 until the third inning when the bats caught fire, as Pulaski County scored six runs highlighted by a Brayden Morris home run to center field. The Cougars added another run in the fourth to take an 8-2 lead, but the Blue Demons scratched their way back into the game by taking advantage of three outfield errors to narrow the score to 8-5 at the end of six innings.
In the top of the seventh, a two-out walk lead to pinch runner Ty Windle scoring from first on a hit and run situation when Daniel Shelley delivered a two-out double. This late run proved to be the difference as the Blue Demons added three runs in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run at second with two outs, until an infield ground out ended the game at 9-8.
The JV Cougars collected sixteen total hits for the game. Shelley, Morris, Ramsey, Adam Allen and Tyler Dotson all had a multiple-hit game.
Daniel Shelley took the win for the Cougars going six and two third innings and Phoenix Ramsey
picked up the save.
The JV Cougars next district game is at home this Friday against Cave Spring followed by a double-header Saturday at home with Graham.
