UPDATED - The Pulaski County School Board made it official Thursday evening, as they announced that Todd Jones, who was the head gridiron boss at Essex High School for the past 14 seasons, has been named the new head football coach at Pulaski County High School.
Jones will replace Jack Turner, who resigned on June 24. Just days after Turner's sudden resignation, the Pulaski County High School football program was placed on probation by the Virginia High School League (VHSL) for an out-of-season practice violation.
Jones, who is a Pulaski County native and former Cougar player, led the Trojans to a 14-0 record last season, including a 30-0 win over Radford in the Group A, Division 2 state championship game in December.
While at Essex, Jones compiled an 135-34 mark, winning nine Northern Neck District championships and five Region A titles.
