Salem held off a late Northside rally to claim a 16-14 non-district football win Friday night at Salem.
The Spartans (4-0) held a 10-0 lead midway through the third quarter on a 1-yard TD run by Devante Payne and a 23-yard field goal by Scott Luck.
The Vikings (2-3) cut their deficit to 3, 10-3, late in the third quarter on a 12 yard run by Dorm Dunnaville. Salem pulled out to a 16-7 lead on a 2-yard run by Payne. Northside closed out the game on a 64-yard pass from Dunnaville to Harold Buckner to make the final 16-14, Salem.
Northside posted 296 yards of offense. Dorm Dunnaville led the way with 127 yards rushing and 120 yards passing.
Salem tallied 216 yards of offense. Arrius McConnell notched 85 yards on 13 carries.
