The Lady Cavaliars held the Lady Buffaloes to a mere three points in the third quarter, as Carroll County turned a one-point halftime lead into a 51-39 victory, in non-district girls basketball action Thursday night in Hillsville.
Floyd County (9-3) would race out to a 13-11 lead after the initial quarter. Carroll County (9-2), who lost to the Buffaloes earlier this season by a 53-48 margin, would take a slim 21-20 advantage at the half. The Lady Cavs would take control in the third quarter, as they outscored the Lady Buffs, 18-3, to take a 39-23 lead into the pivotal fourth quarter. Carroll County would continue to hold the upper-hand in the final quarter, as they claimed the 51-39 victory.
Brittany Bourne led Floyd County with 14 points and Katrina Miller finished with 11 points.
Kayla Goins led Carroll County with a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds. Maleah Neely added 14 rebounds and tossed in nine points.
