With a new coach leading the way, the Auburn boys and girls cross country team have been preparing hard to get ready for the competition in the Three Rivers District.

Taking over the program this season is Laura Daniels, who has seen10 boys and seven girls turn out thus far.

The top performers for the boys squad includes senior Matt Wetzel, senior John Knowlton, sophomore Jared Downing, senior Tyler Pettenger, freshman Tristan Smith and sophomore Dylan Thomas.

Leading the pack on the girls side are freshman Morgyn Church, junior Alaney Bishop, junior Lindsey Matthews, junior Elena Fernandez, eighgth-grader's Laurel Miller and Bailey Vance.

The middle school team will consists of eighth-graders Lukas Matthews, Ben Gilmer, Hunter Carter, Andrew Hollandsworth, Cannan Napp and Joshua Downing.

When asked about this year's team, coach Daniels said, "We have team unity and they are dedicated. We have a strong middle school presence for the boys team and we have a strong work ethic."
