Gate City jumped on Glenvar early and never let up, as they took a 7-2 victory over Glenvar, in the quarterfinals of the Region C baseball tournament Tuesday night at Salem's Kiwanis Field.

Gate City (21-6) meets Rappahannock at 1 p.m. Friday in the Group A state semifinals at Radford University.

The Blue Devils would take a 1-0 lead after the first inning and by the time the sixth inning rolled around, they had chased Glenvar starter Anthony Ratliff and held a 7-0 advantage.

The Highlanders (19-6-1) would finally score in the bottom of the seventh when Cameron Holshauser singled, Eddy Kasper walked and Ratliff laced a two-run single to make the final, 7-2, Gate City.
