Freshman Daryl Manns ran for three touchdowns, including two in the crucial fourth quarter, as Eastern Montgomery rallied to beat host Bath County 27-21 in non-district football action Friday night.
The Mustangs (1-0) took a 6-0 lead early in the opening quarter on an 8-yard scamper by Manns. The PAT was blocked. The Chargers (0-1) came right back on a 21-yard run by Tyler Robertson to take a 7-6 lead.
East Mont regained the lead 12-7 in the second quarter on a 58-yard pass from James Fields to Ron Ford. The two-point conversion failed. Bath County followed with a 6-yard pass from Robertson to Criser and Tyler Deeds scored on the conversion play to make it 15-12 at the half.
A 7-yard run by Robertson in the third quarter gave Craig County a 21-12 lead going into the fourth quarter.
A 7-yard run and a 4-yard scamper by Manns in the final nine minutes of the fourth quarter allowed the Mustangs to escape with a 27-21 victory.
