Manassas Park Girls, Clarke County Boys Win Group A Track Title

state_hammThe Manassas Park girls and the Clarke County boys claimed the Group A outdoor track and field championships Saturday at Radford University in Radford.

Girls Events

In a tight race for the top spot, Manassas Park edged second-place finisher James River, 56-51. George Mason finished third with 38 points, followed by Clarke County (34) and Appomattox (32) to round out the top 5 teams.

Amelia finished sixth with 27 points, followed by Radford (24), Madison County (20), Cnetral Woodstock (18.50) and Narrows (16) to round spots six through 10.

Clare Moretz of Madison County was the only multiple winner, as the junior won the 1,600 meters and the 800-meters.

Triple Jump: Lindsey Toothman (Central Woodstock, 34-02.25)
High Jump: Katie Jo Lester (Twin Valley, 5-03.00)

100-meter Hurdles: Caitlin Lake (Clarke County, 15.99 seconds)
100-meter Dash: Reanna Hamm (James River, 12.19)
1,600-meter Run: Clare Moretz (Madison County, 5:16.99)
4x100-meter Relays: Appomattox (50.15)
400-meter Dash: Jasmine Mitchell (Amelia, 56.45)
300-meter Hurdles: Hannah Hadaway (Rural Retreat, 47.99)
800-meter Run: Clare Moretz (Madison County, 2:25.10)
200-meters: Sharese Roberts (Manassas Park, 25.35)
3,200-meters: Natalie Young (George Mason, 11:47.01)
4x400-meter Relays: Appomattox (4:08.17)


Boys Events

Clarke County out-distanced Appomattox, 68-49, for the team title. Floyd County finished third with 40 points, followed by Manassas Park (33) and Lebvanon (31) to round out the top 5 teams.

Radford finished sixth with 27 points, followed by Cumberland (25), Lee (23), Altavista (23), Stonewall Jackson (19) and Middlesex (19) to round spots six through 10.state_shumaker

Kendrick Scott of Appomattox was the only multiple winner. The senior finished first in both the long jump and the 200-meters.
