Craig Hoelzer hurled a one-hitter, as well as nailing a two-run homer, as North Cross opned its season with by blanking William Fleming, 11-0, in a non-district baseball encounter Tuesday afternoon in Roanoke. The game was called after five innings due to the slaughter rule.
Hoelzer struck out 12 batters, including eight of the first 10 Colonels (0-2) he faced. He was also 2-for-3 at the plate, including a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
Jordan Titzmann was a perfect 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Raiders (1-0).
Derek Ray had the lone hit for William Fleming.
