The Western Valley District will start its district tournament Tuesday, with games scheduled to be played in baseball, softball and boys and girls soccer.

The Franklin County Lady Eagles Tennis team lost their Northwest Regional team playoff match with Riverbend of Fredericksburg, Va. by a team score of 6-0 Wednesday.   Only singles, were played as the rain started just as the singles were ending.  A team win consists of 5 of the 9 matches and the doubles were not necessary.

Registrations are now being taken for the 2010 Patrick Henry Patriot Soccer Camp, which will be held June 14th through 18th, at Patriot Stadium in Roanoke.

The rain held off for the Western Valley District Finals at Franklin County Park Wednesday evening.

In the Western Valley District girls tennis tournament being played at Franklin County Park Tuesday evening, all the matches in the quarterfinals and semifinals had gone to the higher seed. That finally changed, when Halifax's 4th seeded doubles team of Jessica Palmer and Blair Jeffries upset the #1 seeded doubles team from GW Danville, Betsy Ezell and Lindsay Harris.

All of the higher seeds won their matches, as the Western Valley District girls tennis tournament started Thursday evening at Franklin County Park with quarterfinal action.

The Western Valley District girls tennis tournament will get underway this afternoon with singles and doubles action starting at 5 p.m. The matches will be contested at Franklin County Park on Sontag Road near Rocky Mount.

In their last match of the regular season, the Franklin County Lady Eagles beat Lord Botetourt, 7-2. at Franklin County Park in non-district girls tennis action Wednesday afternoon.
